Smartwatches
We have gone from having our computers be so large, they take up entire rooms, to now being so small they can fit on your wrist in the shape of a watch. Technology has truly advanced an incredible amount, and so it is no wonder that this type of watch is called a “smartwatch”.
Because although the outer shell is deceptively like a watch, and the device does technically function as a watch, it is so much more. Really it is more like a tiny personal computer, that you can have around your wrist with ease!
But what makes it smart?
The great thing about smartwatches is a mixture of their capabilities, as well as their sleek and simple design. There are smartwatches for men, as well as for women, and anyone can find use in the small watch-sized computer. Connect it to your mobile phone, and receive calls and messages via the smarter-than-normal wristwatch, or set it up to track your activity and movement throughout the day, to make sure that you are staying active. Use it for entertainment on long rides, for music listening purposes, or to find your way through a new city, where you need help from a digital map and guide.
It truly is a hybrid of a computer, a phone, an activity tracker, and a watch. And what more could you need?
One downside is that smartwatches can be a bit expensive at times, depending on what brand and type you go for of course. If you are excited purely for the activity tracking aspect of a smartwatch, then an activity tracker, or fitness tracker, might be a better fit for you! When purchasing a smartwatch, make sure you also check that it is compatible with the system you use on your phone - not all smartwatches are compatible with either android or iOS or both at the same time - so make sure to check the fine print before you buy your smart new wrist sized computer!
